祇園祭（前半）"Gion Festival"

こんにちは！

7月に入り、京都には祇園祭ムードが漂ってきました。

夕方になると、どこからともなく「コンチキチン♪」とお囃子の稽古が聞こえてきます。

祇園祭といえば、毎年7月17日、24日に行われる33基の山鉾巡行が有名ですが、実は祇園祭自体は、1ヶ月間続くお祭りなんです。

そこで今回は祇園祭前半の、主な行事をご紹介します！

まずは7月10日に行われる、「お迎え提灯」です。 

提灯を持った長い行列が、午後4時半ごろ八坂神社を出発し、京都の町を練り歩きます。

この行列の主役は、子供たち。

役割ごとに衣装を着た子供たちが、たくさん行列に参加するんですよ！

その後、八坂神社に行列が戻ってくると、「神輿洗」の儀式が始まります。 

本殿前で振り回される大松明、神水をかけ清められる神輿、自分も神水を浴びたいと、神輿の周りに集まる人々…。

迫力満点の儀式は、夜9時ごろまで続きます。

14～16日は、「前祭（さきまつり）の宵山」と呼ばれる期間です。

各山鉾に提灯が灯り、祇園囃子が奏でられ、京都の中心部は大勢の人で賑わいます。 

四条通・烏丸通が歩行者天国になる15, 16日は、道の両脇に屋台も出るんですよ！（歩行者天国は18時～23時）

屋台で買った食べ物やお酒を片手に、風情に満ちた京都の町を、歩いてみてはいかがでしょうか？

Gion Festival, the biggest festival in Kyoto has started!

It’s really famous for Yamaboko (the big float moved by people), but in addition, there will be some special ceremony during July.

Today, I will write about some information of the ceremonies.

On July 10th, there will be a parade of people holding paper lanterns.

The parade will start from Yasaka Shrine at 16:30, and move around Kyoto city, and then come back to Yasaka.

In this parade, children play the leading roles!

Many children wear cute & cool costumes and join the parade.

After the parade comes back to Yasaka, the ceremony of purifying Mikoshi (the portable shrine) will be held.

You can see a man swinging a big torch and sprinkling water over Mikoshi, and crowds of people gathering around Mikoshi to pour water over them.

The powerful ceremony will be continued until about 21:00.

The period of 14th to 16th is called “Yoiyama.”

There will be 33 beautifully lighted Yamaboko in downtown of Kyoto. Also, on 15th and 16th, the stalls will be appeared at the sides of street.

So why don’t you walk and look around Yamaboko with food and drink in your hands?

京都のオススメ映画館 "Movie Theater in Kyoto"

今週、京都は雨の日が多い予報になっています。

いよいよ、梅雨本番ですね…。

雨の休日といえば、映画館に行かれるという方もいらっしゃるのではないでしょうか。

京都は大型シネコンのほかに、スクリーンが一つしかないような小さな映画館がいくつかあり、そこでしか観られない映画が多く上映されています。

今日は、そのなかから二つの映画館をご紹介したいと思います！

一つ目は、京都みなみ会館です。

ここには大きなスクリーンが一つあり、世界各地の映画を迫力満点で見ることができます。

月に1,2回、「オールナイト上映」や「爆音上映会」といったイベントも開催されていて、映画監督や俳優がゲストで訪れることもあるんですよ！

劇場に入る扉には、著名な方々のサインを見つけることができます。

［アクセス］京都駅から徒歩20分／近鉄 東寺駅から徒歩2分

［料金］1000～1800円（作品ごとに異なります）

二つ目は、立誠シネマです。

約25年前に閉校となった、小学校の教室を改装して作られた映画館で、座席数35という小規模なスクリーンが一つあります。

実はここ、まもなく閉館・移転することが決まっており、7月は「立誠シネマ・ラスト興行月間」として、今まで上映してきた数々の映画のなかから、スタッフ選りすぐりの作品を上映するそうです。

お気に入りの作品を探しに、訪れてみてはいかがでしょうか？

私にとっても、立誠シネマは何度も訪れた、思い出深い場所です。

気になる映画がたくさん上映されるので、最後の1ヶ月は通いつめようと思っています！

Tsuyu (the rainy season) is just around the corner.

If you don’t have any good idea to visit on rainy day, I suggest an option to go to the movie theater.

In Kyoto, there are not only big theaters, but also some small theaters.

Today, I will introduce my favorite theaters in Kyoto.

The one is “Kyoto Minami Kaikan.”

They have only one screen and show us the movies all over the world.

So you might find one from your home country!

Also, the exciting events are sometimes held, such as “all night showing” and “very loud showing”.

The next one is “Rissei Cinema.”

In addition to movie, the place often holds the events of music, food, art and theatrical performance.

I really recommend you visit there to have a lot of fun!

茅の輪くぐり "Chinowa Kuguri"

こんにちは！

今回は、6月に、京都の多くの神社で開催される「茅の輪くぐり」についてご紹介します。

1年のちょうど折り返し地点である6月30日は、「夏越祓（なごしのはらえ）」と呼ばれ、無病息災を祈願する神事として、「茅の輪くぐり」が行われます。

茅の輪とは、茅（ちがや）を束ねて作った、直径270cmほどの輪っかのこと。

これをくぐることで、半年間の汚れを祓い清めることができると言われています。

「茅の輪くぐり」が行われる神社は、上賀茂神社、平安神宮、車折神社、八坂神社、北野天満宮など、京都中にたくさんあり、各神社で開催時間が異なります。

またそれぞれで、茅の輪のくぐり方やくぐるときに唱える言葉が違うのも面白さの一つなので、ぜひお客様の好きな神社を見つけてみてはいかがでしょうか？

Today, I will introduce very important religious event held on June 30^th in Kyoto.

The event is named “Chinowa Kuguri.”

Because the day is just middle of year, Japanese people have held “Chinowa Kuguri” to pray for being healthy and happy since Edo period.

“Chinowa” is the large circle tied up with Japanese pampas grass and big enough for people to pass through like a gate.

It’s said that we can purify ourselves by going under the circle.

You can try “Chinowa Kuguri” at many shrines around Kyoto, such as Heian Shrine, Yasaka Shrine and Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.

The time of event is different depending on the shrine, so please check it out before you go.

Also, how to go under “Chinowa” is various, so it’s interesting to visit and find your favorite shrine!

紫陽花まつり “Hydrangea Festival”

まだ6月半ばだというのに、京都は30℃を超える、真夏のような暑さが続いています。

京都は盆地という事もあり、旅行をお考えの皆様もそんな暑さを心配されているのではないでしょうか。

そこで今日は、これからの時期だからこそ楽しめる、涼しげなイベント情報をお届けしようと思います！

京都市伏見区に、1800年前に創建された藤森神社。

紫陽花の宮として知られる藤森神社では、毎年6月に「紫陽花まつり」が開催されます。

境内に2ヶ所の紫陽花苑があり、延べ3500株の紫陽花が咲き誇るのだとか！

期間中は、雅楽・舞楽や太鼓・琵琶などの伝統芸能の奉納、あまり見る機会のない蹴鞠の奉納が行われます。

数量限定で、特別な御朱印も授与（300円）されるそうですので、この機会に是非、藤森神社を訪れてみてはいかがでしょうか？

開苑期間：6月3日（土）から約1ヶ月間（開花期間により変動）

開苑時間：午前9時から午後5時まで

入苑料：300円

It’s been very hot these days in Kyoto.

So I’m going to talk about the “Cool” event in this season!

There is a really historical shrine in Fusimi area, Kyoto.

The shrine is named “Fujimori Shrine”, and was built 1800years ago.

It’s famous for the “Hydrangea Festival” in June.

There will be more than 3500 plants of hydrangea waiting for your visit!

During the festival, the special performance of Japanese traditional dance & music and some special ceremony are going to be held.

So why don’t you visit there and see the amazing bloomed- hydrangea if you are around.

Date: About 1month from 3^rd of June (The duration is differed on the extent of the blooming)

Time: 9:00~17:00

Access: 7mins walk from Keihan Bokusen station, 5mins walk from JR Fujimori station or City bus Fujimori Shrine mae stop

Please excuse us in these circumstances, but we are here to announce exciting news. In our Café Bar, No-Wa, we have an upcoming attempt. We are thinking to start some full course menus.

The rate or detail is unknown, yet we have some rages of the rate and we are sure that you can have your suitable course among them. (Photos for your reference.) Mainly, the menus include traditional Japanese food such as row fishes (Sashimi), Japanese tasted soup, Tempra, dessert, and more. Our veteran chef realizes the real taste or atmosphere of Japanese in Kyoto just like restaurants in famous districts.

Whenever you have a chance to visit and wherever you are coming from, you all are very welcome here even you are not guests in our accommodation. For our guests in accommodation, it can lessen your time waste to think of the traditional lunch or dinner in Kyoto as we offer them here. Please feel free to contact us for them. (We are planning that the full course menu requires an advanced reservation since we need to adequately prepare.)

Happy Chinese New Year.

We had Chinese New Year the other day, on 8^th of February.

 

We congratulate on that, and appreciate many of your visits this year, too.

Every year around this time, we have a number of guests for its celebration and the town is always entertaining due to them.

This is a quite positive ambiance in Kyoto when it comes to the sightseeing business like us.

 

We are always wishing oppositely that they could also have a nice experience or memory with us or in Kyoto.

Surely it is not only this time, but especially this time for those who are coming here on purpose of its celebration.

毎年多くの方々にお越し頂き、誠に有難うございます。

日本の方には馴染みのない行事なのかもしれませんが、毎年中国や台湾、その他の国の方に多くご利用して頂いています。

そのおかげでこの時期の京都は賑やかで、観光業の私共としては有難く感じています。
